Emmanuel has many ways to participate in worship ministries. Check out the brief descriptions below and see how you can participate. Talk with one of our clergy or vestry members who will help direct you to the right contact for the ministry that is waiting for you!
•Altar Guild – members set up the altar for worship, prepare the elements, and take care of linens and hangings. This is a great ministry for introverts and others who like to spend alone time in a quiet and holy space.
•Acolytes – Emmanuel is blessed with 19 young acolytes who work in groups of four to lead processions, take care of candles, and help with baptisms by making sure that everyone gets sprinkled with holy water!
•Lay Eucharistic Ministers – These folks assist the clergy in the distribution of communion during a worship service. Some also serve as “sub-deacons” who act in additional ways to help our worship be graceful and holy.
•Lectors – These folks proclaim the readings and help lead the psalms when they are spoken.
•Ushers and Greeters – When people arrive in the worship space, they are greeted my a member of this ministry who will hand them a bulletin, and answer any questions that newcomers might have.
•Eucharistic Visitors – The members of this ministry go out to visit and bring communion to those who, because of illness or other infirmity, are unable to attend worship services.
•Musicians – The talented and dedicated members of our choir, children’s choir, handchime choir, and praise band, make music for the honor and glory of God, and to help us all to worship with joy.
