For the last year, we have made it a goal in our own family to have at least 50% of our weekly trash pick up, go to be recycled. Of course this next week can be a challenge with so many holiday activities. Here are some links to help:

Here are some Holiday recycling tips from the North Smithfield Recycling coordinator.

Real Debt Help For Your Family

Published by HeidiH under Announcements, Events

This is the link to sign up for the FPU course that I am facilitating at our church.  You can also go to his website (www.daveramsey.com) for any other information, on the class or otherwise.  After you register, drop a check off at the church or me whenever you can ($75.00 per family for parishoners).  Spaces are filling up, so make sure you get one!  It also helps me to know if we have enough materials or if we need to order more.

Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover Plan Sign up

Thank you!  I think you will all get a lot out of it – we have!

Heidi

Update:

The average family that takes this 13-week class pays back $5,300 of debt and save $2,700 in 90 days.  $5300 paid off.  $2700 more in the bank.  A preview will be held on this Sunday in the toddler room following the 10:00 AM service and on January 3. The classes will be held on Tuesday nights, beginning January 12.  Registration costs $75 for members of Emmanuel, $99 for non-members.  For more information call the office 658-1506.

Financial Peace

Published by Peter under Announcements

There’s something out there called Advent Conspiracy.  Here’s what their Facebook page says: “Advent Conspiracy is an international movement restoring the scandal of Christmas by substituting compassion for consumption.  For three years Advent Conspiracy has been giving people hope that Christmas doesn’t have to be about credit cards, to-do lists and traffic jams. It’s about:

  • Worshiping Christ more meaningfully
  • Refusing our culture’s hunger for consumerism
  • Giving relationally to our friends and family
  • Loving all by giving to those most in need

Sounds good.  We’re doing two things here at Emmanuel that will touch on some of these points.

First, we’re giving to the St. Mary’s Home for Children this year.  Hats, mittens, bedding, and gift cards are just a few ideas of things that you can give to over 60 kids, ages 8-17.  See this week’s bulletin for more information.

But we also realize that you’re going to get an new blender for someone, or that your kid has to have a Wii and that puts you in debt.  What then?  We’re offering a class starting in January called Financial Peace University, a class designed by Dave Ramsey to get you out of debt.  The average family that takes this 13-week class pays back $5,300 of debt and save $2,700 in 90 days.  $5300 paid off.  $2700 more in the bank.  A preview will be held on January 3, and the class will begin on January 12.  For more information, call the office 658-1506.
