Sunday School 2009-10

Published by JaniceH under Announcements

Sunday School will resume September 20th. The 2009-2010 Sunday School/Rite 13/J2A Registration form is now available on line. You can also register in person on September 13th.

Sunday school

We have church school classes for Preschool (ages 3.5-5), Kindergarten-Third Grade (ages 6-8) and Fourth-Sixth Grade (ages 9-12).

Our younger Sunday School classes use “Godly Play”. This is a Montessori approach to Sunday School stories, art, and dramatic play in the context of a loving, accepting community of children and teachers. The older children use the Seasons of the Spirit program, a lectionary-based program created by an international team of writers and editors representing denominations from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the UK.

Classes begin at 10AM in the Parish Hall and last about 35 minutes after which children join their families in Church for the remainder of the service.

2009 Confirmation Class

For Junior High we run a Rite 13 program and High School we run a J2A program.

These programs are part of the nationally acclaimed Journey to Adulthood which engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. This is a complete youth program of spiritual formation for 6th - 12th grades. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core principles: Manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God and Adulthood must be earned.

These groups meet at 9AM Sunday mornings and run for about one hour.

Please note: We have Nursery care for infants and toddlers during the 10AM service.
