We had a very successful Blessing of the Bikes this past Sunday. 35 bikes came carrying over 55 bikers. It was truly beautiful. Pictures are our on flickr site. Many thanks to Doug Travis and Dawn DeChristafaro for their help in organizing this event and bringing so many bikers from Providence and Warwick. As I said Sunday, bikers don’t need the church as much as the church needs bikers.

We’re blessing bikes on Sunday, June 14 at 2 pm on the front lawn at Emmanuel Church, 120 Nate Whipple Hwy, Cumberland, RI. So if you know anyone who rides, please let them know to stop by. Nate Whipple Highway, with all its potholes, is a main thoroughfare for bikers. We welcome them all.

Our Annual Parish Picnic will take place this coming Sunday, June 7, immediately following the 10:00 AM service. Actually, the whole morning is a picnic. We’re going to be celebrating our own community all day long. See, we challenge each other all year long to be Christians, which is hard work. This Sunday, take time to give yourself a little pat on the back and give thanks for the community that God is shaping us into.

The One-Room Schoolhouse is back for the summer. Beginning this Sunday and cruising all the way through till the end of August, a brave number of dedicated parents (who are not otherwise church school teachers) are offering quality, fun Christian formation for your children each Sunday this summer.
