Prayers and prayer lists

Published by Peter under Message from Peter

Some have wondered about our prayer list at church. Every Sunday, we pray for people in our community who need healing or comfort in some way. These people do not need to be members! Sometimes these people need prayers for a long time–in those cases we put their name in a ‘prayer envelope’. These envelopes are cared for by people in our parish who give them to other people, and they are prayed for intentionally until the situation is resolved. Either way, please let me know about your prayer concerns, for yourselves or for your loved ones. It’s a good way to care about each other.

Lenten Series at Christ Church, Lincoln

Published by JaniceH under Announcements, Events

Have you ever tried to pray on your own, but you didn’t know quite how, or where to start?

Come join us on the Wednesday evenings of Lent as we meet at Christ Church, Lincoln and practice a variety of different ways to pray. We will explore how to make space for prayer in our homes and in our lives, look at beatuiful icons and use them as windows into prayer, pray with meditative song and silence in the spirit if Taize, read the words of Holy Scriptuure as a gateway into prayer, and walk the paths of the labyrinth to engage our bodies, as well as our hearts and souls, in our prayers.

If you’ve never quite known how to pray this is a great place to start. If you already have a rich prayer life, this is an opportunity to try some new ways of encountering God.

  • March 11: Praying with Icons
  • March 18:The Spirit of Taize
  • March 25: Praying with Scripture
  • April 1: Walking the Prayer Labyrinth
