Memorial Breakfast for Bereaved Parents

The Margaret Sterling Cook Foundation is sponsoring a memorial breakfast on Saturday morning, January 10th at the Crown Plaza in Warwick for bereaved parents.
When: Saturday, January 10, 2009
Where: The Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings

801 Greenwich Avenue
Warwick, RI

Information: This special event, hosted by the Margaret Sterling Cook Foundation, is for the bereaved parents, family, and friends of children who died at any age, for any reason.

A candle lighting ceremony will commemorate each child represented, and the Boston radio personality, international speaker, and bereaved parent, Carole Copeland Thomas will be the inspirational keynote speaker of the morning.

The doors will open at 9 AM and breakfast will be served at 9:30 AM. The cost is $10 for adults and $7.50 for children (3 to 12) free (under 3). Reservations must be made in advance, no later than December 28, 2008.  Seats are limited.

If you or someone you know has experienced the death of a child, no matter the age, please contact Peter for your invitation or call Melissa Masquelette at (401) 419-7756.

Christmas Service Schedule

Emmanuel has three Christmas Eve services scheduled on December 24th.

We hope you can join us for one of the services.

  •  5 PM
  •  7 PM
  •  11 PM (Carol singing at 10:45 PM) - Music with Emmanuel’s Choir

We will also have a Christmas Day service on December 25th at 9:00 AM.

St. John’s (Ashton) Food Pantry Grand Opening

Where:  St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 1509 Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI

Information:  Saint John’s Episcopal Church (Ashton) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of their Food Pantry!

Hunger is a problem and it knows no season. Hunger touches people of every age, race, ethnic group and neighborhood. It strikes individuals and families, adults and children, the elderly and the poor. It is their mission and  commitment to supplement the need for food to those who come to the door in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment. Going forward, the Food Pantry will be open on the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

St. Mary’s Update - It’s not too late!

All I Want for Christmas:  We continue to accept donations for St. Mary’s Home for Children through Sunday, December 21st.

Here are some last minute charitable giving ideas:

  • Boys and girls clothing ages 8-18
  • Craft supplies
  • Gift cards for Target, McDonald’s, Papa Gino’s and Borders
  • Socks, hats and twin bedding

These are all items of need and can be dropped off unwrapped.
Collection boxes are available in the parish hall and Narthex areas.  Donations can be dropped off at the church throughout the remainder of this week during regular office hours.  Barbara Lanoue and family will be visiting St. Mary’s on Monday, December 22nd for a final delivery of donations from Emmanuel.
