Emmanuel Episcopal Church

Please be invited, and please invite others to tonight’s Good Friday worship, taking place at 7 PM.  Nate Whipple Highway is closed only by the Middle School.  You can still get to Emmanuel from Mendon Road, just blow right past the detour signs.  If you’re coming from the east, you have to use either 295 or Pine Swamp Road to get to Mendon Road.  DO NOT let that stop you from being with us tonight.

A benefit concert for Haiti will be presented by Encore for You Pleasure (a reach out group featuring several Emmanuel Parishioners) on Sunday February 28th at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Greenville, RI. The program will encompass music from the 30’s thru the 50’s and inspirational music. For those who would not be able to attend, but would like to contribute please contact the Emmanuel office at office@emmanuelri.org.

We have a couple of Lent Happenings coming up:

Sunday February 14th there is a Pancake breakfast at Emmanuel, from 7:30 AM - Noon. Join us for church and then enjoy some pancakes.

Wednesday, February 17 is Ash Wednesday and we are having services at 7AM, Noon, 4PM, 7PM.

Also if you would like to sponsor our Altar flowers in memory of someone or for a special event, the sign up list is in the Narthex.

Emmanuel Nursery School will be holding registration for the 2010-2011 school year on January 30th for parishioners and February 2nd for the public. ENS offers preschool programs for 3 & 4 year old children. Please pass this information along to family and friends who might be interested. Emmanuel Church will present an educational program entitled God and Me for kids in grades 1 through 3.  The program, which will be presented over the course of 5 two-hour sessions, is used in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  The God and Me curriculum is designed to help children become best friends with Jesus and tell their story of “God and Me” together.

At the completion of the classes, each child will earn a certificate and a medal, which we hope to present during a Sunday service.  For those children involved in Cub Scouts, they will also earn a square knot that can be worn on their uniform.  We already have 11 kids signed up.  The first class will meet at Emmanuel Church on Monday, February 1.

I want to wish you all a very blessed Christmas season, which begins in earnest tomorrow night with two times of worship at Emmanuel, 5 PM and 11 PM.  The choir will sing at both services.  I hope you can join us and celebrate with us what God is doing in the world.

Romans is a masterpiece and is worthy of your study.  This class now meets on Friday mornings at various locations from 10:00 AM through 11:15 AM.  For this week’s class, please read Romans 9-11.  For directions or a ride, please call the office 658-1506.  We’ll begin studying Genesis in January.
